1. This project included 2 data sets -- an advanced intercross line (AIL) and a backcross between C57BL/6J(B6) and NZB/BlNJ(NZB). The maps of those files have been updated individually and the new data files were saved as "Wang2003a_B6xNZB_AIL_B37_Data.csv" and "Wang2003b_B6xNZB_BC_B37_Data.csv". They are ready to be read into Rqtl. This is the readme file of backcross between B6 and NZB; 2. Generate a description file of the project, it includes the general information, definitions of the phenotypes, description of the genotypes and information of the missing markers; 3. For the genotypes of this cross: (cM=centimorgan, bp=basepair) (1) Change the symbol of missing genotypes from "=" (original data) to "-" (standard format in data sets of QTL archive) and save the changes in B37 data file; (2) Marker "D7Nds5" is unmapped in Cox genetic map. It bp positions assigned based on MGI, then convert them into cM through Map Converter tool (this type of markers is highlighted with light yellow color in description file); (3) The bp position of marker "D14Mit75" is missing in both Cox map and MGI. No primer sequences are available from MGI. We could not identify the B37 bp positions for this marker currently (this type of markers is highlighted with pale blue color in description file); (5) Five markers miss their bp positions in both Cox map and MGI. Primer sequences found in MGI, but no target templates are found, or their locations don't match the result from primer-BLAST in NCBI. We could not identify the B37 bp positions of these markers currently (this type of markers are highlighted with rose color and please see the description file for details); (3) Seven markers miss their bp positions in Cox genetic map, assign the position from current MGI database. This type of markers are highlighted with gold color and please see description file for details; (4) Some markers are at the same position in B37 Cox map; 4. For the phenotypes of the cross: (1) Change the symbol in trait "sex" from "F" to "0" and save the change in B37 data file; (2) This cross only had 100 female mice in total; 5. Except the "csv" file mentioned above, I also saved the description file, original data, data with B37 map, data process and list of missing markers together as a big excel file ("Data_Description_B6xNZB_BC_Wang2003b.xlsx") (1st curating work is finished in 2009, files are updated on 2/25/2011). 6. Information were updated on 5/25/2012: Change the name of the map (from "Shifman" to "Cox" map) in description and readme file, add a map reference in description file.
